I have been suffering from IBS for years, I still do as symptoms can be triggered form stress, anxiety and fear. I am constantly working on finding ways to deal with my stress- my life is not exactly normal!- and at the same time I feel that I have mastered the diet approach that souths my IBS symptoms in a faster and more efficient way!

IBS is a Syndrome, Not a Disease

When an illness is labeled a syndrome, it means that doctors can’t pinpoint the cause of your symptoms.

This is a problem because without knowing what’s causing IBS, doctors can’t treat it effectively.

The best they can offer are drugs that mask the symptoms – like OTC laxatives, gas meds, or antidiarrheals. Another common “treatment” is anti-depressant drugs. Probiotics and prebiotics and a ton of other supplements that promise miracles!

At best, these treatments offer short-term relief from symptoms.

But they won’t cure you, and they come with some scary side effects.

What I Did for My IBS Instead

With a bit of research and experimentation, I was able to eliminate all my IBS symptoms!

It started with switching to a whole-food, nutrient-dense diet.

When I stopped eating processed food and grains, I noticed a huge improvement.

I also added two key elements that made a huge difference: protein and ginger!

Digestion is a big part of IBS. Elaborating ginger in my diet, excluding gluten, including protein, a lot of it and choosing only the fiber that works can bring life changing.

Also remember to enjoy the food that you love, honor your dietary intuition, chew slowly and eat when hungry.

Wishing you all a great summer! Don’t forget to smile, breath and notice!
